Bernardo Alferes Kantun
Born in Progreso, Yucatan

As a boy, Bernardo worked in his family’s commercial fishing boat business in the port of Progresso, on the Gulf of Mexico. With a natural love for the water, he began diving and snorkeling at a very young age.

Bernardo entered the Naval Academia at Veracruz, studying Engineering in Naval Sciences. While in the academy he worked and studied on a ship traveling the entire coastline of Mexico. He journeyed from Baja all the way south to Central America, crossing through the Panama Canal, then up through the Caribbean and into the Gulf of Mexico and all the way to Texas.
