A Quick note
The beaches on the windward or east side of the island are wild and have strong currents. Even if you are an experienced swimmer please body surf with a buddy and have someone on shore to monitor your location. Cozumel waves are crystal clear with a soft sandy ocean floor that can really pull you out far before you realize it. Have a blast but use caution in the surf.

Coconuts Bar
Coconuts sits high on Cozumel's only cliff. It is on the windward side of the island that we locals call the "other side". The view is spectacular. The owners are very eco-conscious and have kept all the swaying palms and "Gringo" trees in place. Park along the road. Careful walking up the hill as it is sometimes slippery. Enjoy a margarita or great rum punch and a live band everyday from 2pm-3pm. You can even have a photo taken of you with Elvis and Priscilla. Menu items include traditional fish tacos, fresh lobster and garlic shrimp. Open around 10am until sundown.

Playa Bonita
The beach is something from a Hollywood movie set, perfectly turquoise-blue waves and soft, white sand. The surf is crystal clear and very gentle. You can see through every wave! A great place for body surfing. Playa Bonita serves the most potent drinks around so watch out if you have more than one.
Playa Palancar
This is the last stop on the southwest side of the island. It lies in front of the world famous Palancar reef. Although you cannot swim to the reef because of the dangerous, heavy boat traffic, the water is almost always a sparkling blue and green! A great place to relax without a lot of people around.
Chen Rio
Just south of Coconuts, this little lagoon is a great place to let your mind wander. The lagoon is about 4 feet deep in the middle and has a little volcanic rock island on the other side that's fun to explore. There will be plenty of Kodak moments. Bring plenty of film with you to this side of the island because there won't be a place to purchase it over here.
